On June 27, 2014 Central Westcoast Forest Society (CWFS) hosted the 4th annual Salmon to Sea Fundraiser at Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet, British Columbia. The event included a silent auction, live music, tapas, single-malt vodka tasting from Shelter Point Distillery in Campbell River, cocktails and more. The night kicked off with the very popular and local all female bluegrass band, The Poor Pistols. The girls were followed by the main act The Lonely Heartstring Band, a 5 piece bluegrass band from Boston Massachusetts, combining instrumental virtuosity, 3-part harmonies, and a deep understanding of traditional bluegrass and Appalachian music. A screening of the new CWFS mini-documentary on the salmon habitat restoration also took place. This year funds raised will go directly towards monitoring wild salmon stocks in the Kennedy Flats Watershed through CWFS Smolt Trap Project. A huge thank you to everyone that made this event possible. Together, with your help, we raised over $10,000!
